Triple Chocolate OREO Cookie Balls... Bring the game spirit to your dessert table with these triple chocolate OREO cookie balls, dressed as an American football!

I don’t like OREO cookies, said no one. EVER!

They are the BEST. And who hasn’t heard of classic OREO cookie balls? I’m sure everyone loves them by now. Actually my very second post was about them. I called them OREO truffles. They’re really nothing short of truffles, smooth and soft filling wrapped in thick chocolate! Heaven.

Bring the game spirit to your dessert table with these triple chocolate OREO cookie balls, dressed as an American football!

I didn’t want to change anything in classic OREO cookie balls recipe. Don’t fix it, if it ain’t broken, right? However, I wanted to add a little extra game spirit for upcoming big game day. Did I achieve that? I think so!

Nothing screams football like these little footballs, loaded with chocolate.

Speaking of chocolate, these cookie balls are loaded with them, from inside out! First, you need chocolate OREOs with delicious chocolate filling (my favorite!). Then we dip the balls in the melted semi-sweet chocolate. And lastly, we decorate them with melted white chocolate to draw in the details.

I have to admit the dipping process is a little tedious, but I say, it’s totally worth it! I usually put something fun to watch (like Friends re-run), and time just goes by in a blink! Go ahead, play your favorite movie or show and start making this deliciousness!

Happy Game Day!!

Ingredients

  • 1 package Chocolate OREO cookies regular size package
  • 8 oz 226gr cream cheese, softened
  • 8 oz 225gr semi-sweet chocolate
  • ¼ cup 45gr white chocolate chips, optional
Note: I test all my recipes with both measurements for the most precise and accurate result!

Instructions

  • In a food processor, or a blender, crush the OREO cookies until fine crumbs.
  • Add cream cheese and mix until well blended.
  • Divide the mixture into 48 (1-inch) balls. (I use this small cookie scoop.) Arrange them on a baking sheet lined with wax paper, or silicone mat. Freeze for 1-2 hours.
  • Once the cookie balls are firm, roll them into little football shapes. Freeze again, while melting the chocolate.
  • Melt the chocolate in a double boiler, or in microwave, until nice and smooth.
  • Using two spoons, dip the cookie balls in melted chocolate. Let set.
  • In a small bowl, place white chocolate and melt it in microwave according to package instructions.
  • Transfer the melted white chocolate into a piping bag with small round tip, or use a ziploc bag with a small hole cut in one corner. Decorate the OREO balls, as pictured.
  • Keep the cookie balls in the fridge.

I noticed your orgginal Oreo truffles post said to only use 1/3 of the filling, but here, when using all chocolate Oreos, you used all the filling. Does the flavor have anything to do with this, and should I remove 2/3 of my filling if I use regular oreos for this recipe? Thanks. (BTW these are totally adorable though!)

Hi, Lauren! So for the original recipe, I cut down on filling to reduce the sweetness. But I love chocolate filling a lot, so I leave them all. It’s totally up to you to leave it or not on regular oreo filling. Either way, it’s delicious! If you make these, do send me a pic. 😉
