About: I’m Shinee (Shin-ey, rhymes with Renée), a self-taught baker and the creator behind Sweet & Savory by Shinee! What started as a personal blog to document my baking journey has become a trusted resource for home bakers and cooks looking for impressive yet approachable recipes.
Born and raised in Mongolia, I now live in rural North Dakota with my rancher husband and two sons. Living in the country and not having access to many restaurants and bakeries led me to cooking and experimenting in my kitchen.
Through many trials and errors (and many trusted cookbooks), I taught myself how to bake gourmet desserts from scratch. Along the way, I developed a passion for making recipes that are both beautiful and doable — no culinary degree required!
From decadent macarons to homemade layer cakes, I share not just recipes but the “whys” behind the techniques, empowering my readers to add their own twist and fostering confidence and creativity in the kitchen.
