Here’s my story about how I started drinking more water and less soda. And I encourage you to stay hydrated with naturally infused water all summer long.
I’m not here to preach how important it is to drink plenty of water. We all know the importance and try our best, but most of us fail miserably. I’m here to share my journey how I switched from Mountain Dew to water and encourage you to stay hydrated the healthy way.
About 7 years ago, I was addicted to Mountain Dew. Addiction might sound like a strong word, but there’s no other word to describe it. I had to keep cases of it at home, because when I wanted it, I really wanted it! It’s scary how we can get so dependent on this stuff. After about a year, I had to call it quits! It was hard, water is so plain and I was craving the sugary neon drink so badly! (I’m really talking like an addict, but that’s how I really felt then.)
I gradually decreased the consumption (switching from big bottle to a small one) and made sure I have plenty of water at the arms reach. My first step was getting a large 2L container from Tupperware, and I infused my water with lemon, cucumber and mint overnight. Then I’d bring it to the office and drink it throughout the day. At the beginning, I would come home with half full jug, but over time I got used to drinking that much water. I feel so much better now and can confidently say that water really is the best thirst quencher. Getting that huge water bottle and having it by my side at all times was the key to my success!
