I’m not here to preach how important it is to drink plenty of water. We all know the importance and try our best, but most of us fail miserably. I’m here to share my journey how I switched from Mountain Dew to water and encourage you to stay hydrated the healthy way.

About 7 years ago, I was addicted to Mountain Dew. Addiction might sound like a strong word, but there’s no other word to describe it. I had to keep cases of it at home, because when I wanted it, I really wanted it! It’s scary how we can get so dependent on this stuff. After about a year, I had to call it quits! It was hard, water is so plain and I was craving the sugary neon drink so badly! (I’m really talking like an addict, but that’s how I really felt then.)

I gradually decreased the consumption (switching from big bottle to a small one) and made sure I have plenty of water at the arms reach. My first step was getting a large 2L container from Tupperware, and I infused my water with lemon, cucumber and mint overnight. Then I’d bring it to the office and drink it throughout the day. At the beginning, I would come home with half full jug, but over time I got used to drinking that much water. I feel so much better now and can confidently say that water really is the best thirst quencher. Getting that huge water bottle and having it by my side at all times was the key to my success!

Now, let’s stay hydrated together with plenty of deliciously infused water all summer long. And beyond…

Whether you’re hosting a party, or just chilling with family, always have plenty of infused water in your fridge. Naturally flavored water is not only tasty, but also beautiful. It’s great way to make your kids to drink water too! This cucumber, lemon, mint water is incredibly refreshing. It not only hydrates you, but also detoxifies. This is my favorite! It might sounds really weird, but don’t knock it till you try it!

  1. Shinee,

I too have been a Mt. Dew addict for years… not too mention I worked for their parent company. A little over a year ago I was diagnosed with NAFLD due to sugar intake… your infused water recipes are just what the Dr. ordered. The fruits are on my *healthier liver* list and the recipes could not be simpler! Thank You for posting and for being a source of confidence for the *Dew Delirium* I am in…. : )

    • Hey Sarah, isn’t that crazy how we get so addicted? Now I can’t even take a sip of Mt Dew, because it’s too sweet. 🙂 And I drink plain water and happy with it. And I thank that cucumber, lemon, mint water for it, it truly helped me to switch. I know in just a few months, you won’t miss Mt Dew. Stay hydrated! 🙂
