Happy Fri, err Wednesday!

Let me guess, you pulled an all-nighter to finish those taxes last night, didn’t ya? All the forms are signed, stamped and sent? Yay! It doesn’t matter you waited till the last minute, it’s all done now. My friend, you need a glass of wine! Or two! Or three. Have at it, I’m right here with you. No, I didn’t pull an all-nighter this time, but I’ve been there and done that. Oh, joys of sleepless nights over tax forms! NOT fun!

To those who don’t live in the U.S. and didn’t have to go through tax season, you need a drink too. It’s Wednesday after all!

Last month, I’ve been swimming in what it seemed like a grapefruit sea. I mean, deliciously sweet kind of sea, you know. Besides flavoring my cupcakes with them, I threw some in my wine too. Oh, was it good!

To balance out the tartness of a grapefruit, I also added some oranges and sweet orange liquor. So refreshing! Don’t you think it’d be perfect for outdoor BBQ gathering? Effortless, fun and beautiful drink for a crowd. I love the simplicity and versatility of sangria drink.

Ingredients

  • 1 bottle 750ml Pinot Noir
  • 1 grapefruit thinly sliced
  • 1 orange thinly sliced
  • Up to ½ cup 120ml simple syrup*
  • ¼ cup 60ml orange liquor, such as Grand Marnier
Note: I test all my recipes with both measurements for the most precise and accurate result!

Instructions

  • Combine all the ingredients and refrigerate for 5-6 hours (no longer than 12 hours, or the wine will get a bit bitter taste). Adjust the simple syrup amount to your taste.

Tips & Notes:

*To make the simple syrup, combine equal amount of water and sugar in a small saucepan. Bring it to a boil, stirring frequently until the sugar is dissolved. Remove from heat and cool completely.
