Why you’ll love this recipe:

One of my favorite things to do with my kids during holiday baking season is to make these colored sugars!

It’s super easy and fun way to decorate sugar cookies. Not to mention how inexpensive it is!!

Bowls of granulated sugar and food coloring.

Ingredients:

All you need is granulated sugar and food coloring.

I prefer gel food coloring as it doesn’t add too much moisture to the sugar and adds nice and bright color!

How to make colored sugar:

This’s really simple and straightforward process! No special tools or ingredients required!

  1. Simply drop a little bit of gel food coloring into granulated sugar and blend the coloring into the sugar using a spoon.
  2. Let the sugar air dry for 30-60 minutes.

Mixing in food coloring into granulated sugar.

That’s it! I told you it’s a no-fuss, quick and easy process!

Storing Tips:

Transfer the leftover colored sugars in sandwich bags. Squeeze all the air out and store in a cool and dry area.
