Ingredients

  • 1 pound french loaf or italian loaf
  • ½ cup unsalted butter softened
  • 6 cloves garlic finely minced or grated, Note 1
  • 1 tablespoon parsley finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon chives finely chopped
  • ½ teaspoon sea salt or more to taste

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 425 degrees F and line a large baking sheet with parchment paper or foil.
  • Slice bread in half lengthwise and place on a baking sheet, cut sides up.

  • In a medium bowl, mix butter, garlic, parsley, chives and salt together until well combined. Spread evenly over bread.
    ½ cup unsalted butter, 6 cloves garlic, 1 tablespoon parsley, 1 tablespoon chives, ½ teaspoon sea salt
  • Bake for 8-10 minutes or until golden brown on the edges. Serve along your favorite pasta dish or salad.

Notes

Note 1: You’ll need to peel the cloves. Then, push each clove through a garlic press, or grate them on a microplane zester. The easiest way to peel a garlic clove is to lay it flat on a cutting board and press the flat side of a chopping knife against the clove until you hear it crack. This releases the skin from the clove, making it easy to peel off.   
Note 2: Make cheesy garlic bread by sprinkling freshly grated parmesan or mozzarella cheese over the butter spread. 
Storing Tips:
- Wrap cooked and cooled garlic bread in aluminum foil, and store it in the refrigerator for 1-2 days.
- Homemade garlic bread freezes well! Once cooled, double-wrap it in aluminum foil, and keep it frozen for up to 3 months.
- Reheat from thawed or frozen in the oven at 350°F for about 10 minutes or just until warm.
