This Instant Pot applesauce is the easiest way to make homemade applesauce. In this tart unsweetened applesauce, the apple flavor really shines. That's why it makes a perfect ingredient in apple flavored desserts, like apple caramel tart.

Ingredients

  • 3.5 lbs Granny Smith apples or any variety of apples
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • ½ cup water
  • ¼-½ teaspoon ground cinnamon optional

Instructions

  • Wash and cut the apples into quarters. Remove the seeds.
  • Place the cored apples in the inner pot of your Instant Pot.
  • Add water and lemon juice.
  • Cover and make sure the valve is set to sealing.
  • Set the Instant Pot to Pressure Cook/Manual for 5 minutes on high. (NOTE: It took about 10 minutes for my IP to come to pressure.)
  • Let the pressure naturally release, which means just let the IP sit until the pin drops, about 25 minutes.
  • Turn the valve to venting, and carefully open the lid.
  • Remove the apple skins before blending everything in a blender, or using an immersion blender, until smooth.
  • Stir in cinnamon or other sweetener, if desired.
