You look down at your salad and sigh. Yet another boring salad with no flavor. And it’s supposed to satisfy you and keep you full till dinner! You don’t want any of it.

Well, drizzle over some of this rich and creamy tahini dressing and your salad instantly gets a boost in flavor, richness, and nutrients! Seriously, this smooth tahini dressing is so good that salads can never be boring again!

You’ll love how versatile this creamy tahini dressing is. Drizzle over any green salad, add it to your wrap or use it as a dipping sauce for falafel.

For richness, I also add extra virgin olive oil, which makes the sauce luxuriously silky. Another key ingredient that ensures a silky smooth sauce is ice-cold water. It transforms the thick sauce into a really smooth dressing; so add as much water as you need to your desired consistency.

What is tahini?

Tahini is a smooth paste made from toasted sesame seeds and is used in many traditional Mediterranean and Middle Eastern dishes. You will probably be most familiar with tahini as one of the main ingredients for hummus and baba ghanoush.

It has a strong and bitter taste on its own, but brightened with some fresh lemon juice and sweetened with honey, it turns into an amazing nutty creamy sauce.

Tahini could easily be mistaken on the shelf for a nut butter like peanut or almond butter but its distinctive bitter flavor makes it stand out. It’s one of the essential ingredients in my kitchen and can be used in so many great simple recipes. Like this tahini dressing!

Substitutions and Variations

Substitute apple cider vinegar for lemon juice as depending on your brand of apple cider vinegar the taste might be too strong. Adjust the amount of apple cider vinegar accordingly if it’s too strong for you. Substituting for an equal amount of lemon juice also adds the acidity without too much bitterness.

Add toasted sesame seeds to perfectly complement the tahini dressing and bring out an intense, nutty flavor that works especially well with fresh or cooked vegetables.

Fresh herbs are a fantastic addition and instantly add a pop of vibrant flavor to your tahini dressing. Consider adding in some freshly chopped dill, basil, cilantro or fresh parsley to spice things up and get those greens in!

How to serve tahini dressing?

Tahini dressing can be used in so many ways and it is highly recommended that you always have a jar of the dressing ready to go! Then it so quick to grab and slather on anything.

It works best drizzled over a green salad for a deliciously satisfying lunch or side dish for dinner.

Spread the tahini dressing over your sandwiches or use it in wraps for another layer of rich flavor. This is one of my favorite spreads to add to sandwiches and wraps as it works with all your favorite sandwich recipes!

You can also use this tahini dressing as a dip! Make it a little thicker by using less water in the recipe and use it as a tangy dip for fresh vegetables, crackers, and chips!

Another use for this tahini dressing is that it is so good over roast vegetables too, like Brussels sprouts, cauliflower, broccoli and the like. The nutty, smooth sauce tastes amazing with the caramelized roast veggies.

If you’re a fan of grain or buddha bowls, having this dressing on hand is a godsend! It takes a mess of greens, grains, and protein and brings it all together with it’s simple yet rich taste. Falafels and meatballs also are amazing after being dipped in this tahini dressing.

As you can see, it’s very versatile and can be served with just about anything!

How to store tahini dressing?

Tahini on its own can be stored in the refrigerator for months. Once it has been added to your tahini dressing it can keep well in an airtight container for 5 – 7 days.

It will very quickly be used up by the whole family putting it on anything and everything so make sure to make enough!
