Whether you’re planning a romantic dinner at home or out in the city, a delicious bubbly drink to start the evening is always a good idea.

This special sparkling drink is a simple mix of rose syrup and Prosecco.

What’s Prosecco, you ask? Well, it’s almost like Champagne, but this sparkling white wine is inexpensive, yet equally delicious.

Generally, Prosecco is a dry wine. And they are usually labeled as brut or extra dry, where brut means the driest, and extra dry, on other hand, is with a hint of sweetness.

That’s why, mixing a little bit of rose infused simple syrup turns this dry wine into pleasantly sweet bubbly with delicate floral notes.

Light and delicate Prosecco takes rose flavor so well. I made my own rose syrup by steeping dried rosebuds in a boiling water and mixing in some sugar. Alternatively, you can simply purchase a bottle of rose syrup.

Add as little, or as mush rose syrup as you like. The more you add, the sweeter the bubbly will get, naturally. Customize it to your taste.

Oh, and one more thing about Prosecco. You may encounter with these terms, when choosing your bubbly: Frizzante and Spumante. They simply indicate the pressure level of the wine, if you will. Frizzante is basically fizzy wine with delicate sparkle, whereas Spumante has stronger bubbles similar to Champagne.

To make the drink extra fancy, drop a few frozen raspberries. Cheers!

Rose Prosecco

Rose Prosecco, a pleasantly sweet bubbly with delicate floral notes, is an elegant way to start a special dinner with your sweetheart.

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons dried rosebuds
  • ½ cup 100gr sugar
  • 1 bottle 750ml Prosecco, chilled
  • Frozen raspberries optional

Instructions 

  • To make rose syrup, bring ½ cup (120ml) water in a small saucepan. Add dried rosebuds and bring to a boil over medium heat.
  • Add sugar and stir until the sugar is melted. Boil for another 3 minutes. Then remove from heat and cool completely. Refrigerate the rose syrup until ready to serve.
  • To serve, pour 1 tablespoon of rose syrup in a flute glass and top with Prosecco.
  • Drop 1-2 frozen raspberries for decoration, if desired.
