Minty Watermelon Fizz in a glass.

Why you’ll love this recipe:

Mint and watermelon are some of the most refreshing and beloved flavor combos.

And this beautiful, colorful drink is perfection!

  • It’s bubbly.
  • It’s refreshing.
  • And it’s a crowd-pleaser! That gorgeous vibrant color alone screams party. Don’t you think?

Ingredient notes:

  • Watermelon – Read below for 3 signs of the sweetest watermelon.
  • Mint – Nothing beats fresh mint!
  • Carbonated drink – Truth be told, I don’t drink carbonated drinks often, but sometimes I just crave a bubbly drink. I’ve used 7Up for this recipe, and I love how crisp and refreshing they are!

How to choose a perfect watermelon:

3 signs to look for:

  • Deep yellow patch means watermelon was ripened on the vine. Don’t choose the ones with pale white (or even green) patch, which means they were picked too early!
  • Dark dull color – Skip a shiny watermelon, as it’s not ripe!
  • Large webbing indicates sweet watermelon. These are brown “scars”, caused by pollination, and where sugar seeps out.

How to cut a watermelon:

  1. Cut the watermelon in half.
  2. Place the watermelon half cut-side down.
  3. Cut it into 1-inch slices then turn it and cut the slices again the opposite way, as pictured.
  4. Now, slice each watermelon spear into cubes.

How to make this party drink:

It’s ridiculously easy.

  1. Freeze two cups of soda in ice trays. This’s optional, but I like it this way better than plain ice.
  2. In a blender, blend 1 cup of seedless watermelon cubes and fresh mint leaves until smooth.
  3. Strain the mixture through a fine mash sieve. This is an optional step, but some people don’t like mint pieces in the drink.
  4. Pour the strained minty watermelon juice back into the blender and add remaining watermelon. Blend until smooth.
  5. Pour the minty watermelon into a larger pitcher, add ice cubes and stir in more soda.
  6. If desired, add peppermint schnapps and garnish with mint leaves.
Straining mint is optional. But rest assured, the fizz will be minty nonetheless!

Make-Ahead Tips:

You can make the mint watermelon mixture and then only add the soda and ice cubes when ready to serve.

Storing Tips:

It’s best to consume this mocktail or cocktail right away.

Cheers!
